I’ve pulled together some common answers to help you understand the process before you enquire.
Each chair is made to order. Depending on the timber and custom options you choose, the process can take several months. I will give you an estimated completion date when you place your order, and can send you photo updates along the way.
There are three standard sizes: small, medium, and large. The best size depends on your height. As a guide:
- Small suits people 152–165 cm (5’0” to 5’5”)
- Medium suits people 168–175 cm (5’6” to 5’9”)
- Large suits people 178–188 cm (5’10” to 6’2”)
I will confirm the right size with you before I begin.
I mostly work with reclaimed New Zealand timbers such as Totora, Matai as well as imported Walnut. The colour and grain vary, so I will help you pick a timber that fits your taste.
Yes. Comfort is the first priority in the design. The back braces flex with your body, the seat and arms are sculpted to fit, and every curve is made to support you while you sit and rock.
Prices vary per size:
- Small: $5,000
- Medium: $5,500
- Large: $6,000
Exotic timbers or special requests may cost more. A $1,000 deposit is required to begin, with the balance paid before delivery or collection.
Collection is preferred. I enjoy handing over a finished chair in person and it avoids shipping damage. If you need delivery we can arrange freight at cost.
I'm based in the Lower Kaimai, which is a short drive (10 mins) just out of Tauranga, New Zealand.
Wipe with a damp cloth to remove dust. You can use a mild detergent if needed. Over the years, a light sand and polish will restore its finish. These chairs are designed to last for generations with simple care.
Yes. If you cancel before I begin work, your deposit will be fully refunded.
