About Me
My love of woodworking began at age 11 in intermediate school. I went on to complete a joinery apprenticeship but later followed a career in accounting and finance for more than 30 years.
Eventually I returned to where it all began, back to the workshop and my love of working with wood.
Time in the workshop passes quickly. Each project feels like a form of meditation, where I become completely absorbed in shaping the timber into something lasting. Today I focus that energy on crafting rocking chairs that are as comfortable to sit in as they are beautiful to look at.

The Chairs
These chairs are made to be both elegant and comfortable. Every piece of timber is carefully selected and left to dry for years before it is used, ensuring strength and stability. Nothing happens by chance. Grain is matched for balance and symmetry so the seat, headrest, arms and legs flow together as one.
The design follows a simple rule: form must follow function. A rocking chair should first be comfortable. Any change that distracts from comfort is avoided. The flowing lines and sculpted forms are the result of detailed joinery and hours of shaping and finishing.

The Craft
The back braces are built with a flexible lamination system that moves with the body. The seat and arms are carved to fit naturally. Every joint is reinforced and every line is considered. The goal is not speed, but quality and attention to detail.
Sustainability
All timber is reclaimed or repurposed. No tree is ever cut down to make one of these chairs. Some of the wood has been drying for decades, waiting to be given a new life. A recent batch of Matai, for example, came from the Central Plateau and had been set aside more than 100 years ago.

Care & Longevity
These chairs are the opposite of fast furniture. With simple care they will age gracefully and remain part of a family for decades to come. A damp cloth is all that is needed to clean them. Over the years a light sand and polish will restore their finish.
